Fincantieri handed over the keys, and Explora III is now a real, floating, revenue-generating ship. The luxury arm of MSC Group took delivery on July 23 at the Sestri Ponente yard in Genoa, and with three of six planned vessels now on the water, Explora Journeys has officially reached the halfway point of its fleet build-out.

The headline feature: this is the first ship in the series to run on LNG, with the flexibility to burn bio-LNG, synthetic LNG, and biofuels down the line. Shore power connectivity means that while she's tied up in port, emissions are basically switched off. The greener footnote to a very shiny announcement.

The debut schedule reads like a victory lap around the Mediterranean:

• July 24 — a one-time five-night "Prelude" journey departs Genoa, tracing the French and Italian Rivieras.
• July 29 — arrives Civitavecchia (that's the port everyone calls "Rome" even though Rome is nowhere near it).
• Aug 1 — officially named in Barcelona.
• Aug 3 — 7-night maiden voyage to Lisbon.

Three more sisters — Explora IV, V, and VI — are penciled in through 2027 and 2028. A six-ship fleet built on schedule is the kind of quiet flex the industry rarely pulls off, so credit where it's due.

Now, is Explora on our usual beat? Not exactly — this is the champagne end of the pool, and we're more of a Lido-deck-and-a-slushie crew. But a fleet named with roman numerals marching steadily toward completion has a certain Golden Fleet energy we can respect. Somewhere out there, a very well-dressed passenger is about to pay a lot of money to look at the same coastline for five nights. Godspeed to them.
