Last week we brought you the bummer news that fan-favorite cruise director Gabby Gamboa left Carnival days before her next contract. This week, the cruise director carousel spins a much happier direction: Sara Taskoski has been promoted to full cruise director, and her announcement post is the most wholesome thing you'll read all day.

"Look Mom, I got my stripes!! Happy to say I am fully promoted to CRUISE DIRECTOR," Taskoski wrote on social media. "Starting with Carnival 4 1/2 years ago I never would've thought I would have the strength or confidence to achieve this role."

Her résumé is the textbook Fun Squad success story. Carnival hired her as an activity host in 2021 — bingo, trivia, deck parties, the whole cardio-heavy gauntlet — and she worked her way up through Carnival Horizon, Venezia, Panorama, and Vista. By August 2025 she'd been bumped to acting cruise director, filling in on ships as big as Mardi Gras. Roughly a year of auditioning for her own job later, the stripes are permanent.

Taskoski has built a genuine following for her high-energy hosting and the kind of warmth you can't fake at a 9 a.m. hairy chest contest. In an industry where cruise directors can make or break the vibe of an entire week, Carnival promoting from within — and promoting someone passengers actually ask for by name — is the good kind of news.

"P.S. Carnival Freedom I'll see ya in November," she signed off. Port Canaveral, consider yourselves warned: the fun is coming, and this time it has stripes.
